Christmas markets in Pisa and Livorno

Scroll Down

Both in Pisa and Livorno, the Christmas period is rich in events, festivals, and markets that occupy the main streets and squares of the cities.

To celebrate the holidays and enhance the atmosphere of joy and cheerfulness, both cities are adorned with bright decorations and colorful Christmas trees. Every year, three enormous Christmas trees are set up in the historic center of Pisa: in Piazza delle Vettovaglie, Piazza XX Settembre, and Piazza Arcivescovado. The banks of the Arno River are decorated with sparkling LED lights that are also used to adorn bridges and entrance gates to the city center.

Themed shows and concerts are organized during the weekends. In Livorno, the Christmas atmosphere is well present at the Christmas Village, a joy for all children. Here, it is possible to write letters to Santa Claus and meet him in person surrounded by his helper elves. The village also hosts shows and events with Christmas music, and there is a small ice skating rink.

Furthermore, various street artists animate the streets of Livorno’s historic center, adding to the festive atmosphere.
